Control4 Composer Pro Hack
The fact that I have to call my dealer to upgrade my system to 2.9 and change the name of certain devices in my system is ludicrous. It's not only annoying, but in my situation, my dealer is incredibly slow. I asked my dealer to update my system the day after 2.9 was released.still haven't heard back from him. No, it's not critical, but again annoying. Without the end user, Control4 doesn't exist, so the company should be offering 24/7 technical support at the least for its customers (if the system fails and your dealer isn't available 24/7, you have to wait until they have time or decide to get back to you). Ignoring the end user and only communicating with dealers is certainly not a way to make your customers feel good about spending any money on your products. The two paragraphs above are they key points.

Within 2.7.2, I was able to upgrade my director to 2.8.2 though. So right now, if I want to upgrade, I use 2.7.2.
I can’t seem to get it to connect to my network anymore whether through Wi-Fi or ethernet. So I think I need to do a factory reset on it. Holding the identify button for thirty seconds doesn’t seem to do much and I’ve read that performing a USB restore is necessary. I’ve obtained the USB restore utility off this website and used it on my controllers but it doesn’t appear to have an option for speaker points. Still I’m wondering if there a separate USB restore utility for speaker points and if there is, does anyone have a copy of it? I can’t thanks you all enough fort he instructions here. In my case it wasn’t and before I could register it I had to re-identify the controller in my project. Which also sounds like what you might have to do. To re-identify the controller. Click the Connections button in the bottom left. Then click the Network tab in the left pane.
It does install a certificate for me it’s under: C: Users Jerry AppData Roaming Control4 Composer BTW, the AppData folder is sometimes hidden, so you may have to type the address in. The certificate is called composer.p12 I found this from digging around in the code. I made a self signed certificate called composer.p12, and it recognized it, but it gave me errors stating the password was incorrect fatal error and closed. It generates a 1024 bit RSA key and a CSR, which are in that folder. But, to get the PEM certificate, it sends a soap request to control4’s servers with the CSR and key, and then it returns a PEM and converts it to a p12. If I could get the PEM I could do the rest, but I’m not sure how control4 sends it.
